The answer is snow: weekend's sport action disrupted by weather

Check out which events are off this weekend.

THE BIG CHILL is set to freeze out another weekend of sport it seems as more events fall prey to the weather.

Here’s what we know so far:

Rugby

Connacht’s Magners League clash with Aironi is off after a pitch inspection in Limerick this morning.

Yesterday Munster moved their showdown with Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park on Saturday from 7.30pm to 5.00pm.

Every All-Ireland League match in Leinster and Connacht is off, according to the IRFU. A call on the remaining games in Munster and Ulster will be made by 11am tomorrow, we’re told.

GAA

The five Leinster Club Championship finals scheduled for this weekend have now been postponed.

These games are re-scheduled for the following weekend. The details will be confirmed on Monday, we’re told.

Soccer

Manchester United’s game at Bloomfield Road may be called off if Blackpool’s efforts to prepare the stadium fall short.

The Football League is also expecting plenty of cancellations throughout the English programme.

All the games in Scotland’s top flight are off, meanwhile.

Racing

Punchestown was earlier found to be unfit for racing due to the snow and Sunday’s card is cancelled.

A similar inspection at Clonmel today resulted in their Sunday schedule postponed too. In Navan, pictured, Saturday’s racing is moved to Sunday, December 19.

Hockey

The Irish Hockey Association (IHA) has postponed this weekend’s Irish Hockey League games. They will be rescheduled for the new year.

Elsewhere, the Leinster Ladies Hockey Union has cancelled all matches scheduled for this weekend due to frozen pitches.
