The Morning Score: Wednesday

Munster wait on injury update, one Irish winger could be heading back to where it all started and Cork name their hurling captain.

1. INJURY Munster and Ireland fans are still waiting on a prognosis for Jerry Flannery.

The hooker underwent an MRI scan yesterday to determine the seriousness of the injury sustained against Ulster last weekend, but no announcement has been made by Thomond Park chiefs as of yet.

Wary Leinster forwards coach Jono Gibbes believes the Ospreys have grown “an arm and a leg” in the scrum this season, meanwhile.

2. PREMIER LEAGUE Nani hit the winner (fantasy football gold!) against Stoke at Old Trafford last night as Manchester United moved three points clear at the top of the table.

Watch the goals here.

Birmingham beat Blackpool 2-1 thanks to a Scott Dann winner (more FF points for me) while Fulham ran out 3-0 winners over an off-form West Brom (I had no horse in that race).

3. FIGHT CLUB Manchester City had to deal with another training ground scrap yesterday as Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor clashed.

4. PREMIER LEAGUE There’s seven matches in the English top-flight tonight. Match of the Day is on at 10.45pm, set the Sky box.

5. WHO’S YOUR DADDY? Clare’s senior football boss Micheal McDermott is hopeful that the GAA’s Central Council will look favourably this weekend on their request to become eligible for the scheme which allows players to declare for the home county of their parents, according to Fintan O’Toole in the Irish Examiner.

6. #ROVER’S RETURN? Damien Duff could be on his way back to Ewood Park after the new Blackburn Rovers chairwoman yesterday hinted at a move for the Dubliner.

The Irish Sun’s Owen Cowzer says that those close to the Ireland winger are ‘dumbfounded’ by the announcement.

7. #REBELS Shane O’Neill was last night named as Cork’s new senior hurling captain. Dual star Eoin Cadogan will fill the vice captaincy role. It marks two canny political moves by Denis Walsh.

8. #DUBS Conal Keaney is expected to confirm by the end of the week whether he will remain with the Dublin footballers or return to the county’s hurling panel.

The Ballboden man missed the Dubs’ early-morning training session yesterday.

9. #REF JUSTICE Martin Sludden’s return to action is shrouded in mystery accroding to the Irish Independent.

The Tyrone referee has not seen inter-county action since last summer’s infamous Leinster final:
