Dooley resigns, the drama continues at Wimbledon and Dundalk are on the march.

1. #OUT THE GAP Joe Dooley last night quit his position as Offaly senior hurling manager.

The Faithful County legend cited personal and professional reasons for his decision and insisted he was proud of his charges.

Offaly lost to Cork by a point in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday in their All-Ireland SHC qualifier.

2. #WIMBLEDON It was another dramatic day at the All England Club yesterday, despite some rain.

Sabine Lisicki reached her first Grand Slam semi-final, beating 2007  finalist Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1 under the Centre Court roof.

Maria Sharapova, meanwhile, dominated 24th-seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 6-1, 6-1. Rafa Nadal declared himself fit and will play Mardy Fish today.

Our old friend Rory McIlroy turned up to take in the action and met some familiar faces.

3. #COMEBACK? Tiger Woods, meanwhile, has said he still does not know if he will play at the Open,at Royal St George’s next month.

“I will come back when I’m 100%. I don’t know when that’s going to be,” he said. “I’m just playing it by ear right now. I’ve not hit any balls yet. I want to be playing, but I’m not ready yet.”

4. #AIRTRICITY LEAGUE Mark Quigley clocked first half hat-trick as Dundalk leapfrogged Bray into fifth place in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Lilywhites eventually ran out 5-1 winners at the Carlisle Grounds. Not bad going.

5. #HOWZAT? There was some good news for Ireland’s cricket fraternity yesterday when the ICC announced that four Associate members will take part in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
