UEFA to make Tallaght Stadium decision on Tuesday

The club plan to install an extra 4,000 seats in the ground in order to meet UEFA guidelines.

UEFA WILL ANNOUNCE on Tuesday whether Tallaght Stadium meets UEFA guidelines for Europa League group games, according to a statement on Shamrock Rovers’ official website.

The club have proposed the stadium as their preferred venue for their Europa League group games, despite some people urging them to host their encounter with Tottenham at the Aviva Stadium.

The stadium currently holds 6,000 seats, with UEFA insisting that a minimum seating capacity of 8,000 is required for the tournament. However, Rovers plan to install an extra 4,000 seats for the games in order to meet the organisation’s guidelines.

It has been a busy few days for the club of late.

Just prior to the transfer window’s closure, they secured a deal to bring ex-Toronto FC and Tottenham star Rohan Ricketts to the club.

It was also announced that 21-year-old left-back, Enda Stevens, would depart the club in January for Aston Villa, after the player impressed during their recent European matches.

In addition, they also signed 31-year-old left-back Jim Paterson, who has previously played for Dundee United, Motherwell and Plymouth Argyle.
