IRELAND ASSISTANT COACH Les Kiss has attempted to explain what wrong during Ireland’s disappointing Six Nations campaign, telling Setanta’siTalkSport programme that the atmosphere following their clash with England was “one of the worst dressing rooms I’ve ever been in”.
And while he described the match as “a bitter pill to swallow,” he partially defended the team, saying: “I wouldn’t say commitment dropped, I’d say confidence dropped”
However, he rejected suggestions that Ireland’s defence against Wales was below-par, saying that “defensively we missed very few tackles”.

Nevertheless, Kiss admitted that, over the course of the tournament, there were “three tries I was extremely disappointed with and two of them came against Wales”.
He indicated that Ireland could not solely lay the blame for their loss on questionable decisions from the officials, saying that despite the decisions, “we still had a chance to close that game out”.
However, it was not all doom and gloom as far as Kiss was concerned. He claimed there was a lot of “pluses” to be taken from the tournament, and added: “The attack was good – we were the only team to score five tries in two games.”
