DUNDEE UNITED AND Celtic have agreed a deal which would see Anthony Stokes leave the Scottish Premiership champions on loan.
27-year-old Ireland international Stokes has fallen out of favour with Hoops manager Ronny Delia and made his last appearance for the club, one of only two this season, back in August.
The Tangerines, currently bottom of the table, are hoping to take the former Arsenal, Sunderland and Hibernian forward on loan for the remainder of the season.
However, there are a number of offers on the table and Stoke has yet to make his mind up.
“We have made an approach to Celtic and spoken to the player but I don’t how things will pan out,” manager Mixu Paatelainen told BBC Scotland. “It’s up to the player to decide.
He’s got loads of options. Obviously we’re a bottom-of-the-table club. I don’t think when you look at the league table that we are the favourites to get him.”
Cetlic boss Delia added: ”A lot of clubs have been in contact who want to have Stokesy on their team. We will see what Anthony wants and what is best for the club.
“He is happy to go out on loan. He wants to get some games under his belt. It’s important for everybody he finds himself, gets some good performances and can then perform for Celtic again.”
With few minutes on the pitch this season, Stokes faces a real battle to be in Ireland’s squad for Euro 2016.
The last time he lined out for the Boys in Green was the friendly win over the US back in November 2014.
