Chicago Bears receiver given 4-game ban for failed doping test

Alshon Jeffery tested positive for performance enhancing drugs, but will be back playing football next month.

CHICAGO BEARS WILL be without Pro Bowl wide receiver Alshon Jeffery for the next four games after he was suspended without pay for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Jeffery’s suspension begins immediately and he will be eligible to return to the Bears’ active roster on December 12.

Jeffery, who is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of season, has 630 receiving yards on 40 catches and one touchdown this season.

Playing on the franchise tag, the suspension is a major hit to Jeffery’s wallet as it will cost him over 3 million ($/€).

Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal will see additional snaps at receiver in Jeffery’s absence against the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.
