FORMER DERRY MINOR captain Conor Glass has retained his place in Hawthorn’s team for the weekend following his impressive debut against Fremantle.
The 22-year-old completed a team-high 93% of his 15 disposals, claiming eight intercepts and five marks during his maiden outing in which the Hawks dismantled the Dockers, and will feature once more when the in-form Sydney Swans come to town tomorrow night (Saturday morning Irish time).
Those 15 disposals compare favourably with Glass’ fellow Irish debutantes throughout AFL history; Jim Stynes had five, Zac Tuohy three, Pearse Hanley 10, Conor McKenna four and Tadhg Kennelly eight (per World Footy News).
Following the game, the Hawthorn players formed a circle around Glass in the dressing room, producing a rousing rendition of team song before rubbing the Derry man’s foxy locks in unison – for good luck, perhaps. His performance was sufficient to be named in an unnamed side for the visit of the Swans.
Teams are in.
