Jim Gavin didn't want to talk about the Davey Byrne incident yesterday

Dubs and Armagh facing reported €10,000 fines following challenge match bust-up.

DUBLIN MANAGER JIM Gavin refused to comment on the latest developments in the Davey Byrne disciplinary saga.

The Dubs and Armagh were hit with reported €10,000 fines after the GAA took a hard line on their challenge match bust-up.

Both counties were said this week to be considering an appeal but Gavin sidestepped a question on the matter on Thursday.

“I’m just here to talk about three days out from an All-Ireland quarter-final. That’s my focus.”

Byrne suffered a broken nose following the pre-match incident with an unnamed Armagh player earlier this month.

Although the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) reviewed video footage, they could not build a case against any individual players.

Byrne missed Dublin’s Leinster final win over Westmeath but returned to training ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final showdown against Fermanagh.

Gavin confirmed that all of his squad are fit and available for the game which throws in at 4pm in Croke Park.

“We have everyone back, including Nickey Devereaux who picked up an ankle injury with his club a few weeks back. He is back training.

“We have the full hand to select from. It is the first time this season.”

The Dubs boss also reiterated his support for Ger Brennan following the Allstar defender’s decision to step away from the panel while he recovers from injury.

“It’s a decision that Ger made himself. He reflected on where he was and he made the decision for himself in the best interests for himself to get himself back for next year.”
