Hospitalised Swansea boss misses Arsenal trip

Francesco Guidolin is expected to be out of action for a number of days with a chest infection.

SWANSEA HEAD COACH Francesco Guidolin missed tonight’s crucial clash at Arsenal after being taken to hospital with a chest infection.

Guidolin has been struggling to recover from the illness for several days, but Swansea say he is in a comfortable position and is expected to make a full recovery.

The 60-year-old Italian has only been in charge of the Swans for five games after replacing interim boss Alan Curtis with the south Wales outfit involved in the battle for Premier League survival.

Curtis took charge against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

“Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin will miss tonight’s Barclays Premier League fixture at Arsenal,” the club announced on their website.

“Guidolin has been struggling with a chest infection for over a week and after failing to respond fully to medical treatment, was referred to a respiratory specialist at a London hospital this afternoon.

“The specialist felt that the best course of action was for Guidolin to remain in hospital for a few days to receive further treatment.”
