GRAEME McDOWELL, PAUL McGinley and Shane Lowry have carded their second successive under-par rounds to move into contention at the British Masters at The Grove in Hertfordshire.
England’s Richard Bland leads the way on 11-under after his bogey-free, seven-under 64 today.
But McDowell is just five shots off the lead, on six-under, after scoring a second successive 68, which is good enough for tied 11th.
The Northern Irishman is just one shot clear of former Ryder Cup captain McGinley, who carded a 67 today after a 70 in the first round.
Lowry is one shot further back, in a tie for 28th, after a one-under-par 70 this afternoon, a round which contained three birdies, two bogeys and 13 pars.
Michael Hoey carded an even-par 71 today but he paid for his four-over 75 yesterday and missed the cut.
Elsewhere, Waterford’s Seamus Power will be looking to pick up a few shots in his second round at the Safeway Open in Napa, California, his first tournament as a holder of a full PGA Tour card.
Power is tied for 99th after an opening round, one-over 73.
