CONOR FERGUSON CONTINUED Ireland’s fine run at the European Junior Championships in Israel as he picked up a silver medal in the 50m backstroke final in Israel today.
The Bangor swimmer achieved the feat with a time of 25.27 seconds — 0.03 seconds off his personal best — behind Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov, who prevailed with a time of 25.15.
There was good news elsewhere for Ireland as the mixed medley relay team came fourth in the final, just behind Britain’s bronze medallists, with a national record of 3:54.75.
Meanwhile, Mona McSharry secured a place in the final of the 100m Breaststroke, finishing first in her semi with a time of 1:07.81.
The Sligo native has already claimed gold in the 50m Breaststroke and silver in the 200m Breaststroke earlier this week at the event.
