Leeds striker given eight-game ban for biting Fulham defender

Fernando Amorebieta was booked for his reaction to the incident and was later sent off for a second bookable offence in the 1-1 draw.

LEEDS UNITED STRIKER Souleymane Doukara has been banned for eight matches for biting a Fulham player, the English Football Association announced today.

Doukara, born in France but eligible to play for Senegal, bit Fulham defender Fernando Amorebieta in the second half of a 1-1 draw in the second-tier Championship at Elland Road on February 23.

Amorebieta was booked for his reaction to the incident and was later sent off for a second bookable offence.

“Souleymane Doukara will serve an eight-match suspension with immediate effect after he was found to have committed an act of violent conduct,” an FA statement read.

“The Leeds United forward was charged following an incident which occurred in the 54th minute of the game against Fulham on February 23, 2016.

“The breach of FA Rule E3, which the player denied at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Wednesday, was considered a non-standard case given the seriousness and both unusual and violent nature of the misconduct.

“Mr Doukara was also warned as to his future conduct and fined £5,000 (€6,317).”

Doukara, who has scored five times in 27 appearances this term, will be eligible to return to the second-tier side for their final game of the season at Preston North End on May 7.
