THE SHORTLISTS HAVE been announced for this year’s leading players in the Leinster senior football and hurling championships.
The new accolade will see the winners awarded a specially commissioned Pearse Medal, which acknowledges the link between the 1916 leader and the Leinster Council of the GAA.
In football, champions Dublin supply four of the five shortlisted players with All-Star winners Diarmuid Connolly, Jonny Cooper, Brian Fenton and Dean Rock all in the frame along with Westmeath’s James Dolan.
In hurling, champions Kilkenny have three players in contention in Cillian Buckley, Jonjo Farrell and Paul Murphy. Galway’s David Burke and Westmeath’s Niall O’Brien complete the list.
