LEINSTER HEAD COACH Leo Cullen has urged his men to to smarten up after they opened the door for Munster to take top-spot.
The Guinness Pro12 leaders found themselves 21-8 down at half-time before Barry Daly was shown red for taking Aled Thomas out in the air.
The Scarlets capitalised to make it 35-8 before Adam Byrne, Tom Daly and Andrew Porter rescued a try scoring bonus-point.
“The red card was a tough one to take,” said Cullen, “when you play someone in the air you need to understand the consequences.
I wasn’t sure he landed on his head, but he made contact so we need to be smarter in those situations. But the guys fought back well to score a try at the end of the first-half but the red card made it very difficult for ourselves.
“We showed good character and it was pleasing to get over at the end for a bonus-point but it was a very frustrating game.”
Munster hit the league summit this afternoon as they thrashed Pro12 basement boys Benetton Treviso 46 – 3.
The Ospreys also turned up the heat at the top with a bonus-point 22-5 triumph at Glasgow.
Cullen is determined to banish their Welsh demons by overcoming the Newport Gwent Dragons next weekend. He said: “It’s very congested at the top of the table, that Ulster game was called off and they will be back in the mix.
“The Ospreys had a good win too upon in Glasgow which puts pressure on us. It’s tight but we expect that, so we have to recover well ahead of a trip to the Dragons next weekend.
“We’ve got a lot of boys playing Test match rugby so we will assess them and move forward.”
