Bray boss Croly nowhere to be seen as Seagulls snatch victory in Limerick

Dave Scully struck at the death to give Bray three precious points.

Limerick FC 0

Bray Wanderers 1

From setting up the pre-game warm up to finding the breakthrough in the 90th minute, Dave Scully’s emotional celebration epitomised the spirit in the Bray Wanderers dressing room as they overcame Limerick at the Markets Field.

In what was a lively opening half, Limerick and managerless Bray Wanderers exchanged blows but failed to break the deadlock in a forty-five minute period full of half chances.

The Seagulls almost took the lead through the head of Hugh Douglas. The right-back was up for a corner and made good contact with McGlynn’s cross at the back post. Limerick managed to clear off the line just in time though, before a goalmouth scramble resulted in an infringement against the visitors.

Limerick’s biggest chance came through their returning hometown hero Lee-J Lynch. His clever movement caught the Bray backline by surprise and a diagonal from the back saw him go through on goal. It was Limerick’s best move of the game, but Lynch failed to convert – seeing his effort smothered by Bray’s new recruit Peter Cherrie.

Sean Harding saw red for a second bookable offence on the hour mark – taking out Peter McGlynn. Ironically, it was Limerick who dominated the remainder but couldn’t find the goal that the so desperately needed.

Instead it was troubled Bray Wanderers who stole the points. Substitute Dave Scully fired home his free kick in the ninetieth minute before celebrating with the merry band of Bray supporters behind the goal.
