THE HULA HOOPS National Basketball Cup got underway last weekend — and Irish international Lorcan Murphy left his mark on the opening round.

Cup holders Templeogue BC beat UCC Demons 96-87 to take a slender lead to Leeside this Saturday night for the second leg of their first-round clash.

The highlight came from Murphy who drove past two Demons defenders on his way to the rim before finishing with a reverse dunk.

Elsewhere, UCD Marian beat the UL Eagles while there were also wins for Moycullen, DCU Saints, Tralee Warriors and KUBS.
