MICK LAWLOR WAS the unlikely hero of Sunday’s Laois senior football decider.
Playing in his third county final — 21 years after his first — the veteran forward scored two goals in two minutes as Emo held Portlaoise to a shock draw.
The 42-year-old’s exploits could have become the stuff of urban legend but thankfully, Brendan Brophy was on hand and captured the footage.

Speaking to The42 on Monday, Lawlor said: “I can’t remember how the first goal came about but for the second one, I got on the end of it around the square and she snuck in. Happy days!”
The sides will have to do it all again on Saturday evening, with the winners set to play Palatine in the Leinster championship less than 24 hours later.
“We have to be realistic,” Lawlor said. “We’re not even thinking about the Leinster championship.
“Portlaoise are going for nine-in-a-row and they’re a good side so they might be but we’re definitely not.”
