Aussie icon tells Kyrgios and Tomic to go back to where their parents came from

Kyrgios hit back at Dawn Fraser after the swimming legend’s viral TV tirade.

NICK KYRGIOS HAS described former Australian swimming champion Dawn Fraser as a “blatant racist” in response to the four-time Olympic gold medallist’s sensational racist attack.

Kyrgios, who polarises opinion due to his erratic style and behaviour, was the subject of an on-air tirade yesterday after Fraser was quizzed about the 20-year-old’s controversial Wimbledon exit.

The Aussie star was accused of tanking in the second set of his 7-5 6-1 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (8-6) fourth-round loss to Frenchman Richard Gasquet on Monday.

Questioned about the allegations, 77-year-old Fraser was relentless in her assessment of Kyrgios, as well as fellow Australian Bernard Tomic, who has been axed from Davis Cup duty.

“It’s absolutely disgusting. I am so shocked to think that he went out there to play and he tanked … that’s terrible,” Fraser told Channel Nine’s The Today Show.

Canberra-born Kyrgios is of Greek and Malaysian descent, while Tomic — born in Germany — is the son of a Croatian father and Bosnian mother.

Fraser added: “They should be setting a better example for the younger generation of this country, a great country of ours. If they don’t like it, go back to where their fathers or their parents came from. We don’t need them here in this country if they act like that.”

Kyrgios responded within hours of the outburst, going on Facebook to hit back at one of Australia’s most successful athletes.

“Throwing a racket, brat. Debating the rules, disrespectful. Frustrated when competing, spoilt. Showing emotion, arrogant,” Kyrgios wrote. ”Blatant racist, Australian legend. #perspective”
