PATRICKSWELL have the chance to join Ahane at the head of Limerick hurling’s senior roll of honour when they play Na Piarsaigh in next Sunday’s county final.
The 18-time champions haven’t ruled the roost on Shannonside since 2003 but they walloped Adare in this afternoon’s semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds to set up next weekend’s Gaelic Grounds showpiece with last year’s runners-up Na Piarsaigh.
Patrickswell had the damage done from an early stage today as Adare were demolished at the Gaelic Grounds.
Lar Considine scored their first goal in the 19th minute and a second major from Tommy O’Brien two minutes later had the winners 2-11 to 0-3 clear.
By half-time, Limerick’s Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland U21 winning captain Diarmaid Byrnes had five long-range frees to his credit as Patrickswell led by 2-14 to 0-4.
Adare tried to save some face in the second half but they still fell to a massive 22-point defeat, as Patrickswell ran out 2-24 to 0-8 winners.
Meanwhile, the Ballylanders reign as Limerick SFC champions ended as they lost by 2-4 to 3-11 against Newcastle West at the semi-final stage.
Newcastle West’s final opponents will be Dromcollogher-Broadford, who came from behind at half-time to see off Monaleen in their last four clash in Kilmallock.
Monaleen led by 2-4 to 0-7 at half-time but Drom regrouped to win run out 1-13 to 2-6 winners.
Monaleen were held to just two points in the second half as their opponents upped the ante.
