Shane Long's stoppage-time winner sends Southampton through to face Arsenal

The Irish striker doubled his tally for the season tonight.

SHANE LONG POPPED up deep into stoppage time to send Southampton through to the FA Cup fourth round with a dramatic 1-0 win over Norwich at St Mary’s.

The Irish striker has struggled in front of goal this season but was the hero tonight as his 92nd winner finally separated the two sides of two tight ties.

It was just Long’s second goal of the season with his only other strike coming on New Year’s Eve against West Brom.

Claude Puel’s side will now meet Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United safely progressed with a 3-1 win over Birmingham City at St James’ Park.
