COLIN FALVEY AND Richie Ryan had a weekend to remember as Canadian side Ottawa Fury advanced to the NASL final at the weekend.

Two goals from Tom Heinemann saw the Fury secure a 2-1 extra-time win over Minnesota United FC in the NASL semi-final on Sunday.

Tipperary-born Ryan, who captains the Fury, described the win as “the proudest victory I’ve ever had with this group of players”.

Both Ryan and Cork native Falvey have been garnering praise for their terrific performances this season, with the club’s fine form attracting a record 9,346 fans to Lansdowne Park stadium yesterday.

The Fury now go on to face New York Cosmos in the James H Shuart Stadium in Long Island next weekend.

The Cosmos have Real Madrid legend Raul and Euro 2008 winner Marcos Senna in their ranks, with both players set to hang up their boots following Sunday’s Championship final.
