Allen facing possible three-month ban for Fu comments

The Northern Irishman seems to have a hard time keeping his opinions to himself.

MARK ALLEN COULD be banned from snooker for three months, after once again accusing Marco Fu of competing in a less than fair manner.

Allen comes up against Fu in the opening round of the UK Championship on Sunday.

Following his defeat to Cao Yupeng in the World Championships last April, Allen accused his opponent of getting away with using an illegal push shot.

He also named Hong Kong’s Fu as being a player that had broken the rules in the past.

Allen was handed a three-month ban for his remarks, with the punishment suspended for six months.

His most recent comments, which came last Wednesday, were spoken just one day shy of the end of the six month ‘suspended’ period so he has been asked to clarify his comments for the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.

When asked last Wednesday about his “cheating” claims, the 26-year-old Allen said: “It was a comment that I still stand by.

“I’d never said anything about Marco as a person. Marco as a person is one of the nicest people you’d ever meet.

“Obviously people make mistakes on the table. But aside from that, Marco is a great snooker player.”
