The Ireland international has penned a two-year deal with Iranian side Tractor Sazi.

IRISH STRIKER ANTHONY Stokes has signed a two-year deal with Iranian side Tractor Sazi, the club has announced.

The 29-year-old joins the side following a brief spell with Greek SuperLeague club Apollo Smyrni, which ended in April.

Stokes failed to turn up for training which led to the club saying that he was in breach of his contract and it was reported that they were looking to see if they could terminate his deal at the time.

The forward had only signed for the side in February and made just four appearances for them prior to his departure.

Stokes was previously released by Hibernian back in January with manager Neil Lennon criticising his behaviour in the run-up to him parting ways with the side. He has also had spells at Blackburn, Sunderland and Celtic.

Stokes has made nine appearances for Ireland and his last international cap came three years ago in a friendly against the United States.
