Division 4 wrap

Antrim maintain winning record as Wexford and Louth remain hot on their heels

Wexford hit four goals past Wicklow in the highest-scoring game across all divisions.

ANTRIM REMAIN ON TOP of the bottom tier and on course for promotion after they ran out 13-point winners over Waterford in Corrigan Park today.

Despite their 100 percent record, the Saffrons are still not guaranteed promotion as Louth and Wexford are two points behind them with two games left.

Tomas McCann kicked seven points while Matthew Fitzpatrick’s goal propelled them to a 1-16 to 0-6 victory.

In a refreshingly high scoring affair, Wexford took the points after a 4-23 to 3-14 win at home against Wicklow. The visitors scored a goal early on through Marc Lennon but a John Tubritt goal left Wexford 12 points in front at half-time.

Wicklow, inspired by Paul Cunningham’s goal, battled back to within three points with 20 minutes remaining, but Wexford saw the game out and finished strongly. Ben Brosnan raised the green flag twice and Ciaran Lyng added a goal of his own as Wexford cruised to victory.

Louth were relatively comfortable 2-17 to 1-7 victors in Carlow. A first-half goal from Conor Grimes handed Louth a five-point deficit at the interval. Grimes found the net for a second time after the break,  while Graham Power responded with a goal for Carlow.

Finally, Leitrim picked up their second win on the bounce, beating London 1-16 to 1-11 in Ruislip.
