JIMMY BARRY-MURPHY has selected the captain of his 1999 Cork All-Ireland winning team as the county’s new senior hurling coach.
Killeagh’s Mark Landers, who lifted the Liam McCarthy Cup when Cork triumphed 15 years ago, has been installed in the new role and it was confirmed tonight at a county board meeting. Landers replaces Kieran Kingston who stepped down recently due to work commitments.

Since his retirement from playing, Landers has been coaching at club level with his own club Killeagh and with UCC at Fitzgibbon Cup level. Most recently Landers has been involved with the Rebel Óg Academy development squads where he was instrumental in recent victories at U15 and U17 level.
Killeagh’s Damien Irwin was appointed manager of the Cork U21 hurling team tonight, having served as a selector with previous manager Pat Kenneally. All-Ireland intermediate hurling winning manager Liam Hayes joins the selectors which also features coach John Hodgins, ex-Cork All-Ireland winner Alan Browne and Ger O’Halloran.
Ronan Dwane will take over as manager of the Cork intermediate hurling team along with selectors Ronan Sheehan, Pat O’Connell, Peter Brennan and Jerry Linehan.
A replacement for Mark Landers as minor hurling coach will be announced at a later date.
