Wesley Sneijder has apologised to Leeds fans for sending a very ill-advised tweet
GALTASARAY MIDFIELDER WESLEY Sneijder was so busy plugging club products on his Twitter account earlier that he didn’t realise the significance of one particular tweet.
Leeds United are holding a minute’s silence today to mark the 15th anniversary of the death of two fans who were stabbed to death in Turkey when the team travelled to face Galatasaray in a UEFA Cup match.
Sneijder obviously wasn’t aware of that because he sent a glowing tweet endorsing the Turkish club’s new knife range.
Fans immediately tweeted their anger at him and the Dutch midfielder was quick to delete the message and apologise.
To be fair to Sneijder, while it was an unfortunate mistake, it’s probably a compulsory part of his contract that he has to promote team products.
The latest Raheem Sterling transfer rumour could be the most ridiculous yet
