DUBLIN GOT THE the better of Kerry in a classic at Croke Park last Sunday to book their place in the All-Ireland senior football final, but Longford fan Colly has reason to be satisfied:

Still only one team have beaten Dublin in 2016. We all know the O’Byrne Cup is the one they really wanted but couldn’t have!

Robbie Keane called time on his 18-year Ireland career this week and Louis Jacob says what many of us are thinking:

Always have and always will be a huge fan… When the begrudgers are long gone, he’ll be remembered as a true Irish icon.”

Upon arriving home to Skibbereen, Olympic medallists Paul and Gary O’Donovan joked: “We’re not great at judging crowds but I’d say there’s a million or something here”. Trevor Naughton spotted the nod to Dougal McGuire.

Enjoyed the Fr Ted reference alright!”

Leinster played Ian McKinley’s Treviso on Friday night, and Jamie Concannon praised the former Leinster out-half’s inspiring tale.

What makes the whole thing more incredible is that he’s still only 26. He still has plenty of time to make a great career for himself, and I’m seriously hoping he eventually comes back to Ireland.”

Ireland’s Olympic hero Annalise Murphy had a Boeing 737 named after her this week after claiming a silver medal in Rio. Symbolism had a perfect puntastic response:

Plane sailing.”

German legend Franz Beckenbauer is being investigated by Swiss federal prosecutors in relation corruption and money laundering allegations and, as Piotrek Krol says, it’s a sad state of affairs:

It’s galling to see such heroes of the game, like Der Kaiser and Platini, reduce themselves to the same species of parasite as Blatter and Havelange.”
