FILE UNDER CURIOUS.
Recently crowned BDO world darts champion Scott Mitchell has revealed he worked as a body double for both Johnny Depp and Billy Bob Thornton for the soon-to-be-released film ‘London Fields’.
Mitchell – who beat three-time Lakeside champion Martin Adams to the £100,000 prize last Sunday – is a farmer by profession but was brought onto set to show the two Hollywood stars how to throw arrows.
However, when specific scores were needed as part of the plot, it was all Mitchell’s work.
He told The Sun:
“[Johnny] does throw darts in the film but when they hit where they are going, I have thrown them. I am a bit of a body double, stunt double, whatever you want to call it. Of course, we look alike.
“We went to the ExCeL Arena, a place in Paddington, some old church, it was like a dungeon. They would go, ‘Hey, we need a 180, a 140′. I would jump on set and try to hit those.”
Next week, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor fills in for Benedict Cumberbatch in the new series of Sherlock.
