DONEGAL GRABBED THEIR first Dr McKenna Cup win of the season today at the Athletic Grounds against Armagh. They won 1-10 to 0-11 with Colm McFadden hitting the only goal of the game.
Armagh lead by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break and were still in control as they lead by 0-10 to 0-6 with ten minutes left. But then McFadden raised a green flag before Michael Murphy and Odhran MacNiallais notched points to seal victory for Jim McGuinness’s side.

Tyrone claimed their second successive victory with a comfortable success over Queen’s University in Omagh by 3-19 to 1-8. The sides were tied at 1-6 apiece at the break, Dan McNulty goaling for Tyrone and Ryan Rafferty raising a green flag for Queen’s. Debutant PJ Lavery and Paddy McNeice hit the second-half goals for the Red Hands as they cruised to victory.
Section B
There were wins for Monaghan and Derry in this section this afternoon. Malachy O’Rourke’s Monaghan side triumphed by 1-16 to 0-8 against third-level side St Mary’s. Jack McCarron hit the only goal of the game as the reigning Ulster champions triumphed in Clones.
Derry won their second game in a row when they overcame Fermanagh by 1-11 to 2-4 in Owenbeg. Aaron Kerrigan hit the net early on for Derry before Fermanagh bounced back with goals from Sean and Seamus Quigley. Fermanagh lead 2-3 to 1-5 at the break before Derry took over in the second-half.
Section C
Liam Bradley’s Antrim team won their first game of the season today by 1-17 to 2-8 against UUJ in Creggan. They bounced back from last week’s loss to Cavan with St Galls CJ McGourty hitting the second-half goal for the Saffron side.
Cavan continued on their winning ways with a 1-9 to 0-5 victory against Down in Kingscourt. Terry Hyland’s side lead narrowly at the break by 0-3 to 0-2 with Kevin Tierney hitting the net just after the break for what transpired to be a crucial score.
