Fennelly an injury doubt for All-Ireland Final

Forward faces anxious wait after pulling up while playing for Ballyhale Shamrocks on Saturday.

A HAMSTRING INJURY could rule Kilkenny forward Colin Fennelly out of next month’s All-Ireland showdown against Tipperary, the Kilkenny People reports.

The 23-year-old was carried off the pitch after pulling up with just five minutes to play during Ballyhale Shamrocks’ Kilkenny SHL win over Clara on Saturday.

Despite being immediately rushed to Wexford for specialist cryotherapy treatment, Fennelly now faces an anxious wait before the full extent of the injury is known.

Meanwhile, Tipperary boss Declan Ryan was able to report a clean bill of health following yesterday’s 1-19 to 0-18 semi-final win over Dublin, according to GAA.ie.

Young Hurler of the Year Brendan Maher is expected to be fit to start on 4 September as the Premier look to win back-to-back All-Irelands for the first time since 1965.
