THE GAELIC GROUNDS will host this year’s Liberty Insurance All-Ireland senior camogie championship semi-finals on Saturday 19 August.
The Limerick venue has been confirmed for the double-header, which will see the four top sides vying for coveted All-Ireland final spots.
The first of the two clashes is between reigning champions Kilkenny and somewhat surprise semi-finalists Dublin (Throw-in 5.15pm).
All eyes will be on Dublin manager David Herity as he prepares to face his native county following his Sky Blues’ historic quarter-final win over Wexford last weekend. They face stiff competition in their first All-Ireland semi-final in 27 years however, and it comes in the form of Anne Downey’s Kilkenny.
The Cats — who are back-to-back league champions, as well as current holders of the O’Duffy Cup — topped Group One and qualified directly for the last four, their only dropped points coming after a draw with Clare.
The two sides met in the group stages last month, Kilkenny running out 3-13 to 0-8 winners on that occasion.
The later tie will see Cork and Galway go head-to-head (Throw-in 7pm).
Last year’s runners up Cork have already sent out a strong statement of intent in Group Two, winning all four of their fixtures following a disappointing league final loss in April.
Galway meanwhile, qualified for the knockout stages on the final day of asking with a hard-earned victory over Clare, while they had a comfortable 1-22 to 0-10 win over Tipperary last weekend.
The Tribeswomen will be hoping to take one step closer to adding to their haul of two All-Ireland titles, and winning their first since 2013, but the Rebels will back themselves to do the business in Limerick.
