Any important team news?

Derry vs Kildare: Kildare make no changes to their line-up, while Derry have yet to announce their side.

Cork vs Down: Cork make one change to their side, with Fintan Goold coming into the attack at the expense of the injured Ciarán Sheehan. Down name the same side that beat Armagh last week.

Tyrone vs Armagh: Tyrone bring in four players for their match with Armagh. Martin Swift and Seán O’Neill replace Dermot Carlin and Justin McMahon in defence, while Kavin Hughes comes in for Aidan Cassidy and Tommy McGuigan takes the place of Martin Penrose. There has been no word as of yet on the Armagh starting line-up.

Limerick vs Wexford: For Wexford, PJ Banville replaces Shaun Roche, while David Murphy has recovered from injury. Limerick, meanwhile, are unchanged.

Dublin vs Limerick: Graeme Mulcahy returns for Limerick, while Donal O’Grady has also won his fitness battle. Mark O’Riordan and Richie McCarthy, however, miss out. Dublin have yet to name their side, but Conal Keaney is definitely out, as he is recovering from a recent motorbike accident.

Waterford vs Galway: Galway are unchanged as John McIntyre opts to stick with the same team that beat Cork in the last round. Waterford have yet to announce their side.

Pick of the weekend

It will be interesting to see Cork’s reaction following the recent criticism aimed at them by ex-Derry player Joe Brolly. They are still licking their wounds after their loss to Kerry in the Munster final, and a win against Down will go some way towards proving that their All-Ireland victory last year did not happen by accident.

Reading List

Whether or not you agree with Joe Brolly’s piece on the Cork team, it is an interesting read. It could also serve as motivation for the Cork team when they meet Down this weekend.

Writing in The Irish Times, Darragh Ó Sé has high praise for Kildare ahead of their game with Derry on Saturday.

Keith Barr rubbishes the theory that Derry will be at a disadvantage this weekend, despite having just lost an Ulster final to Donegal last week.
