Here are the 6 nominees for the GAA player of the month awards but who gets your vote?

Not a bad shortlist at all.

THE NOMINEES FOR the GAA-GPA Opel player of the month awards for July have been revealed with Monaghan, Mayo, Kildare, Waterford, Kilkenny and Galway all represented.

The shortlist for the football accolade includes Mayo star Aidan O’Shea, Monaghan’s Conor McManus and Paul Cribbin of Kildare.

O’Shea produced one of the most sparkling displays of sharp-shooting in the Connacht championship final demolition of Sligo, finishing with 3-4 to his name.

McManus, meanwhile, spearheaded Monaghan’s provincial crown in Ulster as he scored 0-6 in the final against Donegal and Cribbin starred as Kildare enjoyed an extended run to the quarter-final.

In the hurling category, Waterford’s Maurice Shanahan, Kilkenny forward TJ Reid and Jonathon Glynn of Galway are in the running.

Although the Déise fell short in the Munster final, Shanahan scored 0-8 before inspiring Waterford to victory over Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park with 1-12.

TJ Reid and Kilkenny played just once in July but the Ballyhale Shamrocks man fired 1-9 in the Leinster final win over Galway at HQ.

Galway remain in the hunt for the Liam McCarthy Cup and central to their run to the semi-finals has been 22-year-old Glynn. A return of 1-4 from two outings during July included one of Galway’s two goals against Cork in the quarter-final.

The winners will be chosen by the inter-county playing body and will be announced at a presentation at Croke Park on Wednesday morning.
