Gareth Bale set to miss Ireland friendly with foot injury

The Tottenham winger will sit out Wednesday’s game against Trap’s side in Cardiff.

GARETH BALE WILL miss Wales’ friendly with Ireland despite being named in the squad for the game, according to reports.

The official explanation will be that his absence is due to a foot injury, though Bale is understood to be reluctant to risk his health owing to an ostensibly impending move from Tottenham to Real Madrid.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has also confirmed Bale won’t be available for Tottenham’s opener against Crystal Palace owing to the foot injury, but reports suggest that the player is not as badly hurt as Spurs claim.

Meanwhile, talks between Real Madrid and Tottenham are expected to resume early this week, with the Spanish team hopeful that an agreement will be reached imminently.
