Hull hope to sign Meyler, extend Brady deal

Manager Steve Bruce said he was hopeful the club could secure moves for the Irish duo in the coming days.

HULL CITY ARE hoping to seal a move for Sunderland star David Meyler today, according to reports, with the Irish player impressing during his loan spell at the club.

The Championship team are also hopeful of either extending the loan of Meyler’s Irish colleague, Robbie Brady, or signing the Manchester United man permanently.

Brady’s loan deal was due to expire after Hull’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool yesterday, but the club are seeking to retain the player for at least another few months.

In relation to the Meyler deal, Hull manager Steve Bruce told reporters:

“We’ve agreed a deal with Sunderland and now we’ll just try and get the personal terms sorted with the player over the next 24 to 48 hours.

“He’s done very well for us and I’ve said all along that it was imperative that we get our loan players tied up. We’re doing our utmost to do that.

“It’s a good sum of money and fair play to the owners again.

“He’s given us something different since he’s come into the team. He gives us energy and drive that complements the good footballers we’ve got.

“He can only get better as well. His career has been hampered by a knee injury and he’ll get better the more he plays.”

Meanwhile, Meyler added: “I’ll leave it to my representatives and my father to sort out but I’ve been thrilled to work with the gaffer over the last two months.

“It’s a great place to be and I’ve loved being here. Hopefully, we can sort something out.”

In addition, Bruce said he was hopeful that Brady’s stay at the club would continue.

“We’re not sure if there’s a possibility of a loan until the end of the season or to make it permanent.

“That’s something that Manchester United will discuss over the next couple of days.”
