'Its time to ditch the short boards and dust off the long boards and foamies'

We’ve prayed to the Wave Gods and studied the charts. This is what’s in store for the weekend.

ROUND 3 OF the Billabong Pro at Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa is set to go ahead today after a hold as the surf considerably slowed yesterday. The forecast is for solid SSW swell that will hopefully build during the day.

This is the fourth event of the ASP World Tour and offers massive points for those seeking the elusive World Title.

Round 3 offers up some interesting match ups with Australian’s Julian Wilson and Kieran Perrow going head to head. Local boy’s Travis Logie and Jordy Smith are up against each other and are sure to garner huge hometown support. Taj Biurrow vs Josh Kerr at the end of the session should also be one to keep an eye on.

If the swell continues to produce they will start Round 4 immediately after making for a great day of surfing.

Good waves everyone…

Weather Overview

Is summer finally here? Okay the weather may not have improved radically, but the light summer swells we should expect to see this time of year have returned. Its time to ditch the short boards and dust off the long boards and foamies.

The north – Winds are from the north cooling things down and giving no shape to the waves. Small all weekend.

Co Donegal/Sligo – One-two foot at Tullan Strand today. Will be there, or thereabouts all weekend.

Co Clare – One foot and cross-shore.

Dingle Peninsula – One- two foot at Inch but clean. Brandon should be slightly better Saturday morning when the winds are from the south for a period.

Cork and the south – Similar story here. One to two foot for most of the weekend. Check on pushing tides for best results.
