Radio Kerry Sport has reported that O’Connor has taken on the role of selector/coach with local club St Michael’s-Foilmore for the coming season.

O’Connor stepped down from his role as Kerry senior manager last August with Eamonn Fitzmaurice replacing him at the helm.

He is now set to be involved with the South Kerry club who his two sons Cian and Eanna, who lined out for the county U21 team that lost out in last year’s Munster final, both play for.

Current Kerry senior panelist Mark Griffin, who featured for Cork IT in the Sigerson Cup this year, is also one of the club’s leading players.

St Michael’s-Foilmore currently ply their trade at senior level in Kerry and reached the third round of last year’s county senior championship before losing out after a replay to Kenmare District.

The club were crowned All-Ireland intermediate club football champions in 2009 when they defeated Galway outfit St Michael’s in Croke Park.

O’Connor was previously involved in Kerry club football in 2008 with Kerins O’Rahilly’s who he steered to the county senior final replay before they fell short against Mid Kerry.
