Kerry and Waterford players claim GAA player of the month awards for August

Paul Geaney and Austin Gleeson were selected.

KERRY FOOTBALLER PAUL Geaney and Waterford hurler Austin Gleeson have been rewarded for their playing exploits in the month of August.

The pair were this evening named the GAA-GPA Opel Player of the Month winners for August.

Geaney shot 1-4 in Kerry’s All-Ireland semi-final loss to Dublin as he produced an exceptional display that saw him get the nod ahead of fellow nominees Kevin McManamon (Dublin) and Keith Higgins (Mayo).

Gleeson starred in Waterford’s two-game saga with Kilkenny, to win another individual award after being previously honoured for his impressive play in June. Kilkenny’s Richie Hogan and Tipperary’s Padraic Maher were the other hurlers that had been nominated
