Poll Results:

Kerry  (172)
Tyrone  (32)
Draw (6)

Tyrone Changes:

  • (Panel change) Rory Brennan is replaced by Shea O’Hare, who will wear number 6.
  • Eoin McElholm starts ahead of Peter Harte.
  • Ben McDonnell replaces Shea O’Hare.

Kerry Changes:

  • Paudie Clifford and Mark O’Shea come in for Micheál Burns and Conor Geaney.

Some interesting calls there in both camps.

There was always some speculation around Paudie Clifford being named on the bench. He now starts along with Mark O’Shea who impressed against Armagh.

In Tyrone, we see that Rory Brennan is out of the matchday panel while the experienced Peter Harte is on the bench. He’s replaced in the squad by Shea O’Hare while Ben McDonnell and Eoin McElholm start.

Teams are marching around now in the pre-match parade. Not long to go now.

Throw-in! Kerry v Tyrone

1 min: Kerry 0-0 Tyrone 0-0

Tyrone create the first attack but they get overturned as Seán O’Shea gets his first possession.

1 min: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-0

David Clifford wins a free after a challenge from Brian Kennedy which is converted easily by O’Shea. Brian Ó Beaglaoich created that move with a brilliant dinky run, popping the ball for Clifford to move in and draw the free.

2 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-1

Lovely score from Ciarán Daly who cuts inside a narrow gap before angling the ball over. Eoin McElholm, who was a late starter today, did brilliantly to create the opportunity.

Tyrone have broken through again and a free in front of the posts is the outcome.

4 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-2

SAVE!

Darragh Canavan gives Tyrone an early lead following that foul on Seanie O’Donnell. Tyrone win another Kerry kickout and the ball comes down to Darren McCurry who darts through and tries a low effort into the corner. Shane Ryan reacts quickly to deflect the ball away.

That’s a big let-off for Kerry as Tyrone dominate the early proceedings.

7 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-3

Kieran McGeary is the latest to get on the scoresheet for Tyrone and they are really humming here as McCurry then kicks the first wide of the game.

Kerry are struggling to win their own kickouts and Tyrone are looking sharp.

9 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-3

Tyrone slowing the pace down and moving the play laterally. Mattie Donnelly takes on Mark O’Shea out wide before circling back to link up with McGeary.

Kerry decide to sit back and eventually they smoke Tyrone out to force a turnover and win a free through Joe O’Connor.

10 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-3

Now Kerry are taking their time in possession. Gavin White then tries a long-range effort and he doesn’t get the connection right at all and the ball sails well wide of the target.

12 mins: Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-4

Daly kicks his second of the day after some brilliant interplay with Donnelly. That’s four unanswered points from Tyrone and Kerry need to get a foothold in this contest.

They only have that O’Shea free on the board so far.

13 mins: Kerry 0-2 Tyrone 0-4

David Clifford unloads a two-point effort but it falls short into the hands of Niall Morgan. Kerry get the ball back though and Dylan Geaney provides their first score in 11 minutes after timing his run to collect a pass from Clifford.

That was badly needed for Kerry.

14 mins: Kerry 0-2 Tyrone 0-5

McElholm with an instant response from the resultant kickout. He cuts back inside, opens the space and curls the ball over off his left.

He’s had a big impression on the game so far.

15 mins: Kerry 0-2 Tyrone 0-5

POST!

O’Shea with an attempt at a point comes back into play off the post after winning the ball ahead of Pádraig Hampsey and racing through for the free shot at the posts.

16 mins: Kerry 0-3 Tyrone 0-5

Dylan Geaney squanders a goal chance with a poor effort, but the referee was playing advantage for a foul on Paudie Clifford which results in a free that O’Shea converts.

Two between them.

18 mins: Kerry 0-4 Tyrone 0-5

David Clifford with his first point from play. There was a hint of a goal chance there after he took on Hampsey and squeezed inside. He decides to go for the point and leave the minimum between them.

19 mins: Kerry 0-4 Tyrone 0-6

Another Kerry two-point effort doesn’t have the legs to get over the bar. This time, it’s O’Shea who is denied, even though Kerry are playing with the breeze.

Tyrone come straight back down and O’Donnell drills it between the posts.

20 mins: Kerry 0-6 Tyrone 0-6

LEVEL!

After those poor two-point shots, David Clifford raises the first orange flag of the day and shows his emotion to the crowd with a fist pump after a beautiful kick.

22 mins: Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-6

SAVE!!

Superb from Morgan to prevent a certain Kerry goal. Joe O’Connor popped the ball to O’Shea who tried to feed it back to the midfielder for the palmed finish, but Morgan intervenes to rescue Tyrone.

The referee was playing advantage so he will bring the play back for a free which David Clifford scores to give Kerry the lead.

23 mins: Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-6

Kerry now in control as they execute a turnover on Conn Kilpatrick and quickly counter. But all that work is wasted as Ó Beaglaoich hits their third shot into the keeper’s hands.

Tyrone get the chance to build once more.

25 mins: Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-7

TYRONE GOAL CHANCE!

Mattie Donnelly gets the equaliser but he will be disappointed he didn’t get a goal there. He was straight through one-on-one but he put too much air under the shot.

Tyrone then win a poor Kerry kickout and McElholm gets on the ball but his attempt is a poor one and it remains all square in Croke Park.

27 mins: Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-7

KERRY GOAL CHANCE!

Some very poor goal-shots so far in the first half. David Clifford, who would normally put an opportunity like that in the corner, slices his shot off his left boot and wide.

28 mins: Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-8

Brilliant from Darragh Canavan. Textbook forward play as he uses his solo to cut back inside and arrow his shot over. A little fist pump after as Tyrone edge back in front.

Tyrone come back again and almost get a goal chance but Gavin White makes a vital interception.

GOAL! Kerry 1-7 Tyrone 0-8 (David Clifford ’29)

30 mins: Kerry 1-8 Tyrone 0-8

What was that we were saying about poor shooting at the net?

David Clifford buries the ball in the bottom corner after a dummy bounce to get around Morgan. Credit should also go to Mike Breen for a brilliant pass to set up the opportunity.

Graham O’Sullivan then gets a point to push Kerry into a three-point lead.

32 mins: Kerry 1-8 Tyrone 0-8

KERRY GOAL CHANCE!

Ó Beaglaoich’s shot is smothered by Morgan and Tyrone clear the danger. Kerry will be furious that they only have one goal to show for all the chances they’ve created but Tyrone also have work to do to get back into this contest.

33 mins: Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-8

Joe O’Connor kicks a wide but there was a foul and the referee awards the free for Clifford to kick over the bar and open a four-point advantage with half-time approaching.

35 mins: Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-9

Tyrone slowing the play down to kill off the clock and give themselves one more shot at the posts which Donnelly duly supplies.

Half-time! Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-9

Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-9

Interesting first half with both sides enjoying purple patches. Tyrone had the better start, hitting four points without reply to take the early initiative.

But Kerry slowly got into gear and that David Clifford goal is the difference so far. They’ve left some goal chances behind them though, and Tyrone will try to make them pay for that in the second half.

Second-Half: Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-9

35 mins: Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-10

Canavan gives Tyrone the ideal start with a point off his left after Tyrone with the throw-in.

37 mins: Kerry 1-10 Tyrone 0-10

Another Kerry chance squandered after some overelaboration from Kerry as Paudie Clifford gets snuffed out. But there’s a free for Kerry which David Clifford taps over. Three between them again.

It doesn’t look there are any changes either side at half-time.

37 mins: Kerry 1-10 Tyrone 0-12

Canavan with a two-pointer for Tyrone. Brilliant score and that cuts the gap to just one.

40 mins: Kerry 1-11 Tyrone 0-12

Paudie Clifford collects a well-timed pass from O’Shea and steps out wide past Morgan before firing his shot over the bar. Goal was on his mind of course and that’s another one that passes them by. Kerry were in on goal moments earlier too but Morgan came out to clear the ball away for Tyrone.

41 mins: Kerry 1-11 Tyrone 0-12

Morgan takes a short kickout and finds Niall Devlin. Kerry intercept the ball however up the field as Tyrone call for a free on Canavan but the referee is not interested.

43 mins: Kerry 1-12 Tyrone 0-13

David Clifford steps up to extend the advantage again. McElholm then had a chance to respond at the other end but he scuffs his effort in the keeper’s hands.

45 mins: Kerry 1-13 Tyrone 0-13

Joe O’Connor, who has been excellent all day, cuts through for a goal chance but must settle for a point with a boomer from in front of the posts.

Dylan Geaney then gets in for a shot at the net, but his effort along the ground just slices past the post and wide. So many goal chances for Kerry that have gone unclaimed.

It’s keeping Tyrone in the game, although the difference is out to three now.

47 mins: Kerry 1-13 Tyrone 0-13

Ben McDonnell takes a shot under pressure but it’s nowhere near the target. Conn Kilpatrick was in for a hint of a goal chance but an awkward bounce allowed Kerry to retreat and push Tyrone back out.

47 mins: Kerry 1-14 Tyrone 0-13

O’Connor blasts through again and Tyrone cannot handle him as he scratches another point on he board.

Tyrone changes: Michael Mc Kernan on for Ben McDonnell and Mark Bradley replaces Darren Mc Curry

Kerry change: Killian Spillane on for Dylan Geaney.

49 mins: Kerry 1-14 Tyrone 0-13

Joe O’Connor with a superb touch to turn the ball over on Mark Bradley. That could be a huge moment.

Conn Kilpatrick receives a yellow card for a push on Jason Foley.

50 mins: Kerry 1-15 Tyrone 0-13

Spillane marks his introduction with a lovely point and suddenly there’s five points between the teams. Tyrone need a spark from somewhere and it’s not happening for them so far.

51 mins: Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

Paudie Clifford completes a well worked move and there’s some pushing and shoving after following some exchanges between David Clifford, Kilpatrick and Michael McKernan.

The referee then calls over Clifford and McKernan and hands out yellow cards.

51 mins: Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

Mark Bradley tries for a two-pointer but it’s wide.

Tyrone change: Peter Harte in for Ciarán Daly.

53 mins: Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

Harte takes a shot seconds after coming on but it’s from a tight angle and it’s wide.

54 mins: Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

Kerry are slowing the play down and clocking up the passes. Killian Spillane then slinks through for a chance, but Kilpatrick gets across to block the shot.

Tyrone need to get energy from that.

55 mins: Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

McKernan with their latest wide. He did very well to step inside two players but he’s off target with the final product.

Tyrone change: Ruairí Canavan on for McElholm.

56 mins: Kerry 1-17 Tyrone 0-13

David Clifford hits another nail into Tyrone. He’s on fire as usual and it looks like Tyrone have made a switch to put Kilpatrick on him, such has been his influence so far.

Tyrone then get a two-pointer from the boot of McGeary but the referee has already blown for a free so it doesn’t count. Morgan comes up for the free which is in two-point range.

57 mins: Kerry 1-17 Tyrone 0-13

Morgan goes short to McGeary for another two-point kick. But he’s not as lucky at the second attempt. His effort bounces out over the endline. Still seven points between the teams.

58 mins: Kerry 1-18 Tyrone 0-13

Kerry pushing for home now. They’re tearing the Tyrone cover apart and O’Shea comes around to gather the ball and knock it over with his right boot.

Kerry change: Evan Looney comes in for Dylan Casey.

59 mins: Kerry 1-19 Tyrone 0-13

Spillane shacks off Cormac Quinn and puts the ball over with his right. Just before that, Brian Kennedy took a nasty fall while fetching a kickout. He’s receiving treatment for the bang.

61 mins: Kerry 1-19 Tyrone 0-13

Kerry are just rampant now. Tyrone can’t lay a hand on them as Jack O’Connor’s side just work the ball around. Spillane then kicks a wide.

61 mins: Kerry 1-19 Tyrone 0-13

Kerry changes: Micheál Burns in for Seán O’Brien while Tadhg Morley replaces Mike Breen.

63 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-13

More bad news for Tyrone as they are penalised for the three-up rule and it’s a simple tap over for Clifford.

It’s been such a flat second half with the gap now standing at 10 points.

64 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-14

Seanie O’Donnell gets Tyrone’s first score since the 47th minute. It came from a long ball tactic but they will need so much more if they are to make the final minutes a close fight.

65 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-15

McGeary earns another free for Tyrone which Darragh Canavan comes over to convert. Two points in a row. Can they make further inroads?

Kerry change: Tony Brosnan in for Paudie Clifford.

66 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-15

Ruairí Canavan wins a free off Ó Beaglaoich for a high challenge. Canavan takes it himself and tries for the two points but it ends up as a wide.

66 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-15

Tyrone change: Michael O’Neill comes in for Seanie O’Donnell.

69 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-15

BLOCK!

Superb defending from Ó Beaglaoich to deny Mattie Donnelly a shot at goal.

69 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-17

Ruairí Canavan with a two-pointer but it’s much too late for Tyrone.

69 mins: Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-17

TYRONE GOAL CHANCE!

Mark Bradley tries to volley it in but it’s deflected over. But the point won’t count because there was a free and the referee calls it back.

Full-Time! Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-17

Kerry 1-20 Tyrone 0-17

And so it’s Kerry who march on to the All-Ireland final. The result was all but confirmed in the early stages of the second half. Similar to their second-half display against Armagh, they dominated Malachy O’Rourke’s side.

Tyrone just couldn’t break through for a goal and the hot weather seemed to affect them more in the closing minutes.

Joe O’Connor has been named Man of the Match which is more than deserved.

Well, that’s all from us, folks. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. Kerry’s opponents will be decided tomorrow and we will be bringing you through that clash of Donegal and Meath. Hopefully you can make it.

Bye for now!
