LEEDS UNITED’S U23S were away to Rhyl FC in a friendly last night, with Irish duo Eoghan Stokes and Paudie O’Connor both starting for the visitors.
With the game still scoreless in the second half, a scuffle broke out off the ball, which resulted in several players getting involved.
Rhyl defender Tony Davies swung for O’Connor and, luckily for the Limerick-born centre-half, narrowly missed with a punch before the ugly scenes were broken up.
The match was abandoned and Rhyl released a statement last night to say they will hold an investigation into the incident.
“Following the abandonment of the Friendly match between Rhyl FC and a Leeds United XI this evening (21st November) the club will now launch an internal investigation into the incidents which resulted in the match being halted during the second half,” the statement reads.
“The club will issue no further statement until the completion of this work.”
