Wallabies star to make European debut for Leicester in Glasgow clash

Munster will be keeping a close eye on this one.

THE WAIT IS over rugby fans — another European campaign is just one sleep away.

A sold-out Scotstoun will host the first fixture in this season’s Champions Cup, a Pool 1 clash between Glasgow Warriors and Leicester.

Munster will be keeping a close eye on this one ahead of their Paris encounter with Racing 92 on Sunday — Gregor Townsend’s Glasgow travel to Thomond Park for Round 2 next weekend.

Wallabies centre/out-half Matt Toomua will get his first taste of European action tomorrow night [19.45pm, BT Sport] following his move from the Brumbies earlier this year.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill has overseen a solid start to the English Premiership season — Leicester’s four wins and two losses from their opening six games sees them in fourth spot in the table; behind Saracens, Wasps and Bath.

Glasgow have an identical record in the Guinness Pro12, which also puts them in fourth position, behind Ulster, Leinster and Ospreys (on points difference).

Scotland international loosehead Gordon Reid will make his 100th appearance for Glasgow in what will be a tough front-row battle against the likes of Tom Youngs and Dan Cole.
