FULL-TIME: GIRONA 1-2 ARSENAL

There’s been drama elsewhere.

Liverpool substitute Amara Nallo has received a straight red card, while Arsenal’s Raheem Sterling has missed a penalty.

Celtic youngster Dane Murray gets dispossessed.

And then Rogers makes no mistake with his finish to complete a hat-trick.

It’s a fair result — Villa have been the better team.

ASTON VILLA 4-2 CELTIC (ROGERS 90)

So City are officially through after surviving a major scare tonight.

However, they could have a tough game in the knockout stages, with Bayern Munich among the teams they may be paired with.

FULL-TIME: MAN CITY 3-1 CLUB BRUGGE

It’s now 2-2 between Barcelona and Atalanta thanks to Mario Pasalic.

So despite still losing, Liverpool are on course to finish top.

Looking at the table, all the big teams are safe as it stands and no major shocks in terms of teams going out.

Scales has had a difficult night.

Rogers has just run in behind him, but Schmeichel comes to Celtic’s rescue again to stop the Villa star from getting his third.

Adam Idah is coming off after a really impressive night.

He is replaced by 18-year-old Scottish forward Daniel Cummings, who is making a senior debut.

They have had more than one late collapse this season but it looks like City are going through.

Savinho has had a big impact since coming on and has scored his side’s third goal, firing home after being set up by John Stones.

Latest Scores:

  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Sparta Prague
  • Bayern Munich 2-0 Slovan Bratislava
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 AC Milan
  • Juventus 0-1 Benfica
  • Lille 4-1 Feyenoord
  • Salzburg 0-4 Atletico Madrid
  • Sporting Lisbon 1-1 Bologna
  • Sturm Graz 1-0 RB Leipzig
  • Young Boys 0-1 Crvena Zvezda

MAN CITY 3-1 CLUB BRUGGE (SAVINHO 77)

John McGinn stops Idah from running through before Hatate is inches away from scoring a spectacular long-distance effort.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have re-taken the lead against Atalanta thanks to Ronald Araujo and are consequently set to pip Liverpool to top spot.

Schmeichel pulls off another decent save to deny Watkins.

Elsewhere, Haaland misses a good chance to extend City’s lead.

Ederson has drawn Atalanta level against Barcelona.

As it stands, Man City are set to face either AC Milan or Real Madrid in the knockout rounds.

PENALTY MISSED BY WATKINS!

The striker slips as he hits the ball and blazes it over.

You could argue justice has prevailed as it was a questionable decision to award the spot kick.

Penalty to Villa!

Trusty is somewhat harshly adjudged to have brought down Watkins when he seems to win the ball.

Harry Kane has doubled Bayern’s lead against Slovan Bratislava for his sixth Champions League goal of the season.

As I type, Schmeichel passes it straight to Watkins before atoning for his error by making a brilliant save.

Some more goals to report – Harry Kane has put Bayern Munich ahead 2-0 against Slovan Bratislava, Marko Pjaca restores Dinamo Zagreb’s advantage at 2-1 against AC Milan.

Marcos Llorente with Atletico Madrid’s fourth goal against Salzburg, while Nathan Tella doubles Bayer Leverkusen’s lead against Sparta Prague.

A brilliant counter-attacking move by Villa ends with Watkins sweeping it into the empty net, aided again by some generous Celtic defending.

It has been an eventful day for the England international, who hours ago was the subject of a rejected bid by Arsenal.

ASTON VILLA 3-2 CELTIC (WATKINS 60)

Savinho plays through Josko Gvardiol.

The full-back tries to find Haaland with the cross, but instead, Joel Ordonez unwittingly puts it into his own net.

As it stands, City are 22nd and going through.

MAN CITY 2-1 CLUB BRUGGE (ORDONEZ OG 62)

Christos Tzolis has narrowly shot wide for Brugge as City breathe a sigh of relief.

Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic has drawn AC Milan level against Dinamo Zagreb to move the Italians up to seventh in the table.

Christian Pulisic’s goal has brought AC Milan level at 1-1 against Dinamo Zagreb.

Meanwhile, Villa continue to threaten.

Rogers’ low shot goes narrowly wide as he attempts to complete a hat-trick.

It’s still a very open game.

Latest scores:

  • Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Sparta Prague
  • Bayern Munich 1-0 Slovan Bratislava
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Dinamo Zagreb 1-1 AC Milan
  • Juventus 0-1 Benfica
  • Lille 2-1 Feyenoord
  • Salzburg 0-3 Atletico Madrid
  • Sporting Lisbon 0-1 Bologna
  • Sturm Graz 1-0 RB Leipzig
  • Young Boys 0-0 Red Star Belgrade

As helpful as that goal was for City, it’s worth noting that they must win to guarantee progress to the knockout stages.

As things stand, Pep Guardiola’s side are 26th in the table.

Mateo Kovacic has scored what could be a pivotal goal in City’s season to draw them level against Brugge.

He capitalises on space that he drives into before slotting home brilliantly.

MAN CITY 1-1 CLUB BRUGGE (KOVACIC 53)

Lamine Yamal has put Barcelona ahead against Atalanta.

That means the Catalan side replace Liverpool at the summit of the as-it-stands table.

Villa-Celtic is back underway too.

Hopefully, the second half can be as entertaining as the first.

The Man City game is back underway.

John Stones has just missed a great chance, heading Kevin De Bruyne’s cross wide.

An interesting stat — Adam Idah has become the first Irish international to score twice in a Champions League/European Cup game since Ronnie Whelan.

What a night it has already been for the 23-year-old striker.

Confirmation of all the half-time scores below…

Aston Villa 2-2 Celtic

Barcelona 0-0 Atalanta

Leverkusen 1-0 Sparta Prague

Ricardo Pepi gives PSV the lead for the first time against Liverpool.

It stemmed from a Conor Bradley error.

Some goal updates before the break, Antoine Griezmann with his second and a third for Atletico Madrid against RB Salzburg. Serhou Guirassy has also hit his second of the night, putting Borussia Dortmund ahead 2-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The half-time whistles have sounded in the Villa and City games among others.

It’s been a dramatic night so far.

PSV 2-2 LIVERPOOL (SAIBAR 45)

Drama at the Etihad as Brugge score on the counter-attack through Raphael Onyedika, after Ferran Jutgla got the better of Matheus Nunes.

Are Man City about to be eliminated from the Champions League?

MAN CITY 0-1 CLUB BRUGGE (ONYEDIKA 45)

A brilliant finish from teenager Ethan Nwaneri has put Arsenal ahead having been a goal behind.

That leaves the Gunners third in the table and avoiding defeat will guarantee a top-eight finish.

  • Sporting Lisbon 0-0 Bologna
  • Sturm Graz 1-0 RB Leipzig

Villa have now dropped down to 13th in the as-it-stands table and Celtic are 18th.

The English side were 7th a couple of minutes ago.

PSV 1-2 LIVERPOOL (ELLIOT 40)

GIRONA 1-1 ARSENAL (JORGINHO 38)

What a turnaround!

Engles flicks it through brilliantly, and Hatate crosses for Idah, who times his run perfectly and hammers the ball home from close range.

ASTON VILLA 2-2 CELTIC (ADAM IDAH 38)

A great move by Celtic ends with Taylor’s cross deflecting into the path of Idah, who hooks it home.

That ends a 14-game run without a goal for the Cork native and it could hardly have come at a more opportune time.

ASTON VILLA 2-1 CELTIC (IDAH 35)

PSV 1-1 LIVERPOOL (BAKAYOKO 35)

Another let-off for Celtic.

A well-worked move results in Watkins applying the finish but Johnston is in the right place to clear the ball off the line.

The Scottish champions are really struggling at Villa Park and it’s hard to see how they can turn it around.

Florian Wirtz puts Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen ahead 1-0 against Sparta Prague.

Arnaut Danjuma has given Girona the lead against Arsenal.

As it stands though, the Gunners are still safely inside the top eight, sitting fifth.

GIRONA 1-0 ARSENAL (DANJUMA 28)

After a quiet opening, Joey Veerman takes down Federico Chiesa inside the area.

Gapko slots home the penalty to give Liverpool the lead.

PSV 0-1 LIVERPOOL (GAKPO 28)

A sloppy backpass from Digne presents Reo Hatate with a great chance.

But the attacker’s tame finish is easily saved by Martinez.

Moments later, Jacob Ramsey hits the post after more poor Celtic defending.

AC Milan are behind against Dinamo Zagreb.

As it stands, the Serie A outfit are 10th and set to miss out on a coveted top-eight spot.

Thomas Muller has put Bayern Munich ahead of Slovan Bratislava, with Serhou Guirassy doing likewise for Borussia Dortmund against Shakhtar Donetsk. Atletico Madrid are 2-0 up, thanks to Giuliano Simeone and Antoine Griezmann.

It looks like it could be a very long night for Celtic with Villa cutting through them at will.

Scales got a good block in a few minutes ago, and Idah has had a couple of promising moments in attack.

Latest scores:

  • Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Sparta Prague
  • Bayern Munich 1-0 Slovan Bratislava

It’s worth noting that 18-year-old Ireland underage international Trent Kone-Doherty is on the bench for Liverpool tonight, while Caoimhin Kelleher has started against PSV as expected.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Jayden Danns has become the Reds’ youngest-ever Champions League/European Cup starter, eclipsing Martin Kelly’s record from 2009.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Lille, Atletico and PSG have all taken the lead in their games.

Still 0-0 in all the other matches.

What a start for Villa and Rogers.

Celtic get caught trying to play out from the back.

It falls to Rogers whose powerful pot shot from the edge of the area flies into the net.

Scales tried to block it but it ended up getting a slight deflection off the Ireland international on its way in.

ASTON VILLA 2-0 CELTIC (ROGERS 5)

Villa make the perfect start.

Ramsey plays a lovely one-two with Tielemans before crossing low for Rogers who slots home.

ASTON VILLA 1-0 CELTIC (ROGERS 3)

Hello, and welcome to tonight’s Champions League liveblog.

We’ll be primarily focusing on the games involving English and Scottish teams, but we’ll also be providing updates on matches from elsewhere.

From an Irish perspective, it’s a huge night for Adam Idah and Liam Scales, as both players start for Celtic against Aston Villa.
