Liverpool enter into two-year co-operation agreement with Irish clubs

Bray Wanderers and St Josephs Boys are set to foster links with the club primarily in the area of player recruitment.

LIVERPOOL, BRAY WANDERERS and St Josephs Boys will come together as part of a new two-year co-operation agreement.

The deal, which was announced as a Liverpool XI took on Bray Wanderers at Carlisle Grounds, will mainly focus on areas of player recruitment, coach and player education and player development.

It has been agreed that Liverpool coaches will visit the clubs, with a view to assisting and developing youngsters coming through the ranks. Coaches from the Irish teams will similarly visit Liverpool’s academy over the course of the two years.

Liverpool have also agreed to compete in the annual Hibernia Trophy every August, in addition to bringing their reserve and youth teams over to Ireland for matches.

Bray boss Pat Devlin thanked Liverpool for their efforts in making the agreement happen and singled out Kenny Dalglish for praise for his role in the deal.

Frank Mc Parland, Director of Academy and Player Development at Liverpool FC, added in a press statement: “Ireland has always been a hot bed for talent and we are really excited about the partnership.”
