Liverpool's communications chief hits back at intimidation claims

Jen Chang says that reports he bullied the man behind a bogus Twitter account are ‘total nonsense.’

JEN CHANG, LIVERPOOL’S Director of Communications, has denied reports that he bullied and harassed the man behind a spoof Twitter account.

The anonymous man in question created the persona of ‘Duncan Jenkins,’ who amassed a huge following on the social networking site by posting exclusives about the Anfield club.

Despite his signature spelling errors and deliberate inaccuracies, many assumed ‘Jenkins’ was a journalist close to the club.

Chang – appointed during the summer – fell for the ruse after some of the tweets posted by ‘Jenkins’ about new signings proved to come true. He contacted the man behind ‘Jenkins’ to set up a meeting, at which the unidentified blogger claims Chang threatened him, his reputation and his father’s business if ‘Jenkins’ didn’t stop tweeting.

The former sports editor of Sports Illustrated claimed that the tweets were costing the club money, citing the deal to take Fabio Borini from Roma as an example.

While not denying meeting the man behind ‘Jenkins,’ Chang has spoken up to dismiss the whole affair as ‘total nonsense.’

“I will not be responding to total nonsense,” he responded.

“The contents of my tweets that are included in the blog bear no relation whatsoever to the false accusations made by a fictional character.

“There was never any investigation by Liverpool over the tweets.”
