Madigan the Leinster hero, as Ulster show Aironi the Red Hand

It’s a good night for Leinster and Ulster in the Magners League as both march onward with wins under their belts.

LEINSTER AND ULSTER both enjoyed valuable wins in the Magners League last night.

Leinster raced into an early lead against the Cardiff Blues but had to strike twice in the last ten minutes to grab their bonus-point victory at the RDS, emerging 34-23 winners with tries from Shane Jennings, Isa Nacewa, substitute Fergus McFadden and an added-time try from Ian Madigan to clinch the bonus point.

Nacewa also put his early-season woes – having ended his last two games with late missed drop-goal attempts – by converting all four tries and adding two penalties.

Ulster, meanwhile, overcame a plucky display from the Italian newcomers Aironi to win 15-22 at the Stadio Zaffanella.

Robbie Diack scored the only try of the game, but most of Ulster’s points came from the boot of Niall O’Connor who converted and landed five penalties, while Tim Barker also tapped over a placed ball.
