Man United target Dortmund defender, Arsenal close in on Mahrez and all today's transfer gossip

Marc Bartra is the latest player being linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side.

HERE ARE THE good, the bad, and the unlikely football moves being talked about today…

Man United are lining up a bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra — the player who was infamously hit by flying glass and broke a bone in his arm after explosions rocked the German team’s bus before a Champions League game back in April.

PSG have made enquiries about Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who is valued at £87 million (€100m).

Tottenham have made a second bid of £27m (€30m) in an attempt to prise Portugal international Adrien Silva away from Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool continue to monitor RB Leipzig’s 22-year-old Guinea midfielder Naby Keita, who is expected to hold talks over his future this week.

AC Milan are eyeing PSG winger Angel di Maria, who is valued at around £43m (€49m).

Several Bray players are expected to move after the club told players they could only afford to pay wages for another week. Aaron Greene had been linked with Cork City, though manager John Caulfield dismissed the rumour at the club’s press conference today, explaining: ”The way I feel is our signing is done and we’re very happy. Our budget is done and that’s where we’re at. I don’t expect us to do anything else.”

Everton will move for Arsenal star Olivier Giroud should they fail to keep hold of in-demand attacker Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are reportedly close to confirming a deal to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

Chelsea are keen on signing Real Madrid’s Brazilian defender Danilo.

Retro Deal of the Day: Kolo Toure to Arsenal

talkSPORT / YouTube

Toure joined Arsenal from Ivorian football club ASEC Mimosas for £150,000 after a short trial in 2002.

The Ivory Coast international went on to make over 200 appearances for the Gunners and was part of the team that went the entire season unbeaten in 2003-04.

He joined Man City in 2009, helping them win their first-ever Premier League title in 2011-12, before coming close to repeating that achievement with Liverpool two years later, featuring 20 times in their memorable 2013-14 season.

Last year, he was part of the Celtic squad that emulated his old Arsenal side by going the entire league season unbeaten.

He is still active as a player, though his future with the Scottish champions is uncertain.

“It’s a tough one,” Brendan Rodgers said recently. “Kolo is still in that mindset, ‘do I want to play?’

He’s now 36. He was fantastic for us last year, his contract has run out, but he is someone I would like to have a role for.

“Obviously, the playing role diminishes for him. He just needs time to see where he’s at, in terms of playing, or whether he falls into the coaching role more.”
