Mourinho celebrates birthday, says players think it's 'impossible to win' at Camp Nou

The Portuguese manager was in typically bullish form following his side’s Copa del Rey exit.

AN IMPROMPTU CELEBRATION of José Mourinho’s birthday at Real Madrid’s training ground (see video below) could not prevent the Portuguese manager from hiding his disappointment at his side’s recent loss to Barcelona.

Speaking to reporters, Mourinho claimed some of his players think it’s “impossible to win” at Camp Nou. He explained:

“I have heard in the dressing room it is impossible to win here. I have played here with Chelsea, Inter and Madrid various times and this is nothing new. I will congratulate Barcelona for what they did at the Bernabéu last week but not for the qualification.”

Mourinho added that he was satisfied with his team’s second leg performance and refused to accept that he had made the wrong decision in choosing to start Gonzalo Higuaín instead of Karim Benzema, despite the impressive impact that the Frenchman made on the game.

Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola, also praised Mourinho’s side for their performance, suggesting that it was becoming “more difficult to beat Real Madrid every time we play them”.
