IT’S BEEN TWO weeks since Fulham sacked Felix Magath and brought the curtain down on the German’s short but disastrous spell in charge. Now, the club’s owner Shahid Khan is finally stepping up his search for a permanent replacement and has approached Niall Quinn for advise.
The former Sunderland chairman (who had a brief spell at the Fulham academy before joining Arsenal in the early 1980s) is part of a five-man committee that Khan has put together in his attempt to identify the best managerial candidates. Also involved in the process will be ex-Fulham captain and current BBC pundit Danny Murphy while another ex-skipper and fan-favourite Brian McBride is also part of the committee. Joining them will be the head of the club’s Academy Huw Jennings and lifelong fan and senior director at Nike, David Daly.
According to an official Fulham statement, all five committee members have met with Khan recently while the current caretaker manager Kit Symons has been told that he will be considered for the position on a full-time basis.
No deadline has been set for a new appointment with Khan keen to stress that it will be “an exhaustive, thorough and deliberate process”.
