WITH THE EXCEPTION of a limited number of premium tickets, only terrace tickets remain on sale for this weekend’s All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-finals in Cork.
The GAA say they expect an attendance of 30,000 at tomorrow’s meeting of Tipperary and Clare at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, while a crowd in excess of that number is being anticipated for the clash of Wexford and Waterford at the redeveloped stadium on Sunday.
The 45,000-capacity venue reopened on Wednesday, with over 10,000 spectators attending the Cork premier intermediate hurling championship game between Valley Rovers and Blarney. However, the eyes of the nation will be on the home of the GAA on Leeside this weekend.
Tickets will be available up until throw-in — including tickets which can be printed at home and e-tickets which can be read on smartphones — from Centra, Super Valu and GAA.ie
As well as encouraging supporters to purchase their tickets in advance of match day, the GAA recommend that attendees walk to Páirc Uí Chaoimh where possible as parking will not be permitted at the stadium or in the immediate surrounding area. City centre car parks will be open and bus route 202 (Merchant’s Quay to Mahon Point) will also be running.
Given that supporters will be travelling to Cork from a similar direction for Sunday’s game between Wexford and Waterford, the GAA are asking people from the northern parts of both counties to use the M8 in order to decrease congestion on the N25.
